Quiet women intimidating
In a world that often values extroverted, action-oriented characteristics, such as chatty communication skills and busyness, characteristics in which quiet people excel are often overlooked and forgotten. These characteristics, however, hold a heck of a lot of value.Sadly, I find myself in this situation a little too often, so by now I’ve got a system for dealing with my hurt feelings and bruised ego in the immediate wake of being rejected. It typically involves a great deal of drunken analysis, the focus of which is to compile a list of non-threatening answers to the question—“Why didn’t he want me?That day, David was seeking salvation for himself, but it was gifted to him by God in Abigail, who, even while she was at his mercy as his subject, told him what he needed to hear. You brought up a few points that I want to touch on.Other than true masochists, guys who have choice don’t want this.I bring this up because often times when a woman tells me she’s an “alpha female” or “strong independent woman,” alarm bells go off in my head.
Thank God Jael wasn’t meek and submissive and respectful toward this friend of her wayward husband. Yet, she uses the opportunity to warn David that he should “have no cause of grief or pangs of conscience for having shed blood without cause or for my lord working salvation for himself” (1 Samuel ). Don’t use your power in a way that will make you guilty.” David responds, “Blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand! David was attracted to this strong woman for her strength, for her rebuke and for her character. And David, in a moment of grace, was able to see that Abigail’s standing in David’s way was a gift of purity to him. Some might say that I’m one of those women who put off men with my achievements, of which I’m really proud: I’ve published books on the theory of consciousness and the future of the brain.I’ve authored some 200 research papers on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and novel mechanisms underlying brain function.I’m the founder of a bio-tech company that researches new approaches to neurodegenerative disorders. As well as the Legion d’Honneur, a CBE and honorary fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, I have 32 honorary degrees – all of which I’m really proud.
Less talking translates to more reflecting and observing.“I am a minimalist.
